Repetitive Motion Injuries and Georgia Workers’ Compensation Law
Carpel Tunnel Cupital Tunnel
Carpel tunnel injuries to the wrists and hands are among the most common workers’ compensation injuries I see. CTS has become increasingly common in office workers, factory workers and in employees who use their hands all day long.
As I discuss in the video below, questions about the “date of injury” sometimes arise in carpel tunnel cases. Since repetitive motion damage develops over time, you may not realize that you have CTS until several months after symptoms develop. Employers, of course, use this uncertainty to allege that you hurt yourself somewhere other than at work, or that you failed to provide notice of injury within the required 30 day notice period.
If you think that you may have work-related carpel tunnel syndrome, I urge you to call me at 770-351-0801 to discuss how you should report your injury and what date to use as your date of injury. Choosing the wrong date of injury could damage your case and it is much more difficult to undo the damage than to prevent it from happening.
